U.S. Embassy to Italy, USAID and Rotary International donate tablets to Italian students to support education

Chargé d’Affaires Thomas D. Smitham, released the following statement on the occasion of a donation of tablets to Italian students by U.S. Embassy to Italy, USAID and Rotary International.

"I am very happy to be here, with Rotary International, TIM and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research. Thanks to this initiative, 300 students will receive tablets and Internet service to facilitate online remote learning. We are proud to partner with these organizations to help students thrive in the virtual environment. This is part of the overall assistance that the United States has given Italy. To date the United States government has provided assistance worth 60 million dollars to Italy to help fight this pandemic. We are excited about this project and will continue to stand with Italy in the fight against COVID."
