Retired Prefect Roberto Sgalla was the Central Director for Traffic Police, Communications and Special Departments of the State Police. A member of the regional order of journalists of Bologna and the Italian Society of Criminology, Sgalla was a consultant to the Anti-Mafia Commission from 1997 to 2000, director of the External Relations and Ceremonial Office of the Department of Public Safety from 2000 to 2008, and director of the Traffic Police Service from 2008 to 2011. From 2012 to 2014, the Prefect was director of the Police High School. The new director is also a professor at Sapienza University of Rome and at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan.
