Italian Ambassador Armando Varricchio visiting Miami, Florida

A visit with a focus on Made in Italy that of the Ambassador of Italy to the United States, Armando Varricchio, in Miami, Florida, with particular attention to the nautical sector and the role of Italian entrepreneurship for Italy-Florida relations.

"Florida represents an important commercial and cultural partner for Italy," said Ambassador Varricchio in commenting on the visit. "There are many sectors that bind us and many Italian entrepreneurs of Italian origin who operate in this area giving a strong impulse to trade exchanges and strengthening the solid bond of friendship between the United States and Italy".

In addition to meetings with representatives of the "Italian System" active in Miami, including the Chamber of Commerce, ICE Agency, Comites, Dante Alighieri, Miami Scientific Italian Community, the managing body of ODLI, the Ambassador also had the opportunity to meet the CEO of San Lorenzo Americas, Marco Segato, and other operators in the nautical sector, demonstrating the importance of this sector for Italy-Florida economic-commercial relations. The state of Florida is the first market in the USA for sales of boats, engines, trailers and accessories, while among the main partner countries of the United States in terms of imports is Italy, in second place after Mexico. Italy is in third place, after Canada and Mexico, for imports.

On the Ambassador's agenda are also meetings with other exponents of Italian business and the academic world and scientific research to discuss the progress of Italy-Florida trade relations and to deepen issues related to research and promotion of the Italian language. Meetings also with the Italy Miami Think Tank, a group made up of prominent Italian personalities involved in Florida, in the academic, economic-commercial and scientific fields.

During the visit to Florida, Ambassador Varricchio then conferred, on behalf of the President of the Republic, the honor of Commander of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic (OMRI) to the Senior Vice President of Southern Glazer'sWine & Spirits, Melvin Dick, for his contribution to the diffusion and appreciation of Italian wine culture in the United States.

The Ambassador finally gave an interview to the Miami Today Magazine, touching not only on bilateral relations, but also on the issues of environmental sustainability and climate change, in which Italy plays an avant-garde role also because of its partnership with Great Britain within the Cop26 for the current year.
